The church of St Catherine Alexandria in Dolný Kubín is a sacral monument in Orava. It is located in the historical centre of the city and is a significant part of local architecture. The original Gothic building from the 14th century was preserved only in the foundations and western tower. Today, neo-Gothic elements from the late 19th century rebuilding prevail.

The origin of the church dates back to the period of establishment of the parish in Dolný Kubín in 1380. The Gothic building from the 14th century was a typical example of the top middle-class sacral building. In the 17th century, the church has undergone a number of changes in management competence. In 1632 the village gained urban status, in 1670 the parish went to the Catholic administration and finally the church became Catholic in 1709. In the 19th century, the church underwent a major reconstruction in the spirit of neo-Gothic, which changed its appearance and remained still.

Architecturally, the church is characterized by a combination of original Gothic elements and neo-Gothic elements from the years 1880 - 1887. The exterior is divided vertically, with emphasis on broken arches, supporting pillars and high windows. The west tower of the square floor plan is divided by ledges and ends with a pyramidal roof with a makovica and a metal cross. The facade is simple, with white plaster contrasting with stone ledges and supporting pillars. The main entrance portal is made up of arcade space with a net arch and a broken arch.

The interior of the church is encircled by the cross rib vault above the boat and the star vault above the presbytery. The arches are decorated with neo-Gothic ornament painting of plant type and symbolic symbols. Dominant of the Presbytery is the main altar with gothic arcades and turrets. The pulpit is decorated with circles depicting saints and benches are made of wood with simple decorative elements. In the back there is an empora for organ and choir.

There were hours and two bells in the west tower. The church was damaged by a large fire in 1895 that destroyed the tower, roof and outer part. The fire was subsequently repaired in 1979-1981. Further reconstructions in the 20th century were aimed at preserving the value of architecture and history.

The church of St. Catherine Alexandria in Dolný Kubín is open to the public. Its architecture reflects historical and religious references to the region.
