Stropkovský castle is located in the village Stropkov in Prešov region. This manor house and its extinct castle was built in the place where the royal myth was once established. The architectural elements of the castle are now visible in the manor house and parish church. The castle was built at the beginning of the 16th century as an urban fortification that evolved from the original tower near the parish church.

Historically, the castle is closely connected with the town of Stropkov. Its origin dates back to the first half of the 15th century as a rebuilt royal tower. Gradually it developed into a fully-fledged brick pentagonal castle, which was documented in 1767. The owners were the Perenians (the Perineans) from 1408 to 1657 and later the Petes from 1657 to 1814. The castle was destroyed by a fire in the 18th century, the city centre and the castle itself.

Architecturally, the Stropkov Castle evolved from the base tower to a complete pentagonal floor plan with cannon bastions and a falling bridge. The main part was the tower betting with a chapel and a palace, which also served as an administrative center.

After the Perenis, in 1657 it was inherited by the Petes, who were responsible for his report until 1814. After the fire in the 18th century, no repairs were made to the castle and its materials were used for the foundation of new houses.

Today, the remains of the Stropkov Castle are visible in the form of a manor house, which stands on the southern part of the eastern wing, and the parish church. Part of the castle lies also below the surface of Stropkova Square. This complex is protected as a cultural monument under the numbers ÚZPF 243/1 and 243/2.

Stropkovský castle offers a view of the historical architecture of Slovakia and testifies to its rich history.

Welcome to the Stropkov region where history and legends unite in a place full of secrets. Before us is the castle complex known as the Manor House and the castle extinct in the Stropkov region. Even though there are now only remains left, the first sights of this relic can make you feel as if you were moved in time.

Stropkov castle was built in the early 16th century and served as fortification for the city. The complex evolved from an older tower that was part of the parish church. The castle was built in the place where the royal myths used to stand.

The architecture of the castle included several buildings with earth and superwolf designed for defence. The rest of the dissections and structures resemble its former grandioseness, although the specific details are no longer visible.

The castle was owned by the Pereni family from 1408 to 1657. After that, the Petes took him over and held him until 1814. These families were prominent figures in the war, political, or social spheres.

Interestingly, the castle was built on the site with royal myth. Although specific stories are not well documented, an unspeakable atmosphere is added and reminiscent of rich legends.

Let this castle complex address your quiet beauty. Even if his heights are only traces, their history lives in your imagination. We have the opportunity to intervene in ancient times and feel connected to the past.

And now that you've come a little closer to the castle of Stropkovsky, I'll invite you to take another trip to these countries. Take time to explore the surroundings and keep a reminder of this place with the hope that you will return again. Until the early meeting at another historical monument!
