You will find yourself in Levoča, where a unique piece of our village life lies before you - the farmyard of 1835. You stand before a preserved folk architecture that can remind you of your home from past centuries. This national cultural monument, consisting of a house, a barn and a granary, is a perfect story about the environment of our ancestors. Let's go and dive into his history and secrets together.

Hold on a second and look around. Before you there is a log house, whose thick wooden beams and massively wildly create a sense of strength and tradition. See how this structure differs from modern buildings today - every detail here has its meaning and story. The log structure typical of our villages was not only practical but also aesthetic. Previously available wood was used to build houses, barns, and other farm buildings. This court is an example of how people in the past artificially create amazing spaces from simple materials.

Sometime around 1835 people settled here and started their family home here. We don't know who the author was, but each of these buildings has a history. The house was the main place where the family met, ate and slept. The barn served to store the animals and prepare the grain, while the granite was intended to store the harvests. All these buildings were designed to be functional and harmoniously integrated into the village environment.

Hold on a second and look at the facade of the house. Note how wooden beams overlap and create a characteristic pattern that was typical of folk architecture. Each of these buildings was built in view of the practical needs of the family. For example, the granite was designed to be protected from moisture and harmful insects. The barn had enough room to store the animals and prepare the grain for the winter months. All these details show how people in the past artificially create spaces that were not functional but also cozy.

This court is not only an architectural monument but also a story about the environment of our ancestors. In the past, families cared for their animals, fed sheep, and milked cows. During the winter months, bread was baked and food was prepared for the whole year. See how this village atmosphere is reflected today.
