The Assumption Church of Our Lady in Spišská Nová Ves is located on Radničné Square. It is a Roman Catholic Gothic temple from the 13th and 14th centuries. The building is a three-ship pseudobasilical hall building with a new polygonal enclosure. The ship measures 27.5 metres in length and 16 metres in width, the main ship being 8 metres wide and the side ships at 4 metres wide. Six massive columns support four fields of cross vaults with ribs captured in consoles decorated with plant and animal motifs. The pillars are white, their bevelled edges and the sides of the ribs are red.

On the bolts are polychromed figurative ornaments in yellow, green, red and blue colors. Renaissance fresco decoration of the arch from the beginning of the 16th century was revealed after the restaurant in 1954 - 1958. Around the ribs are painted Gothic crabs, and in the middle field arches are depicted four evangelists on thrones with their attributes and angels playing musical instruments. The area is complemented by the motif of the sky, rainbow, stars, sun and moon. The vault of the sanctuary with motifs The spirit of saints and angels is the work of the master Felix Dabert of 1887.

The Presbytery has a star vault from the reconstruction in the Baroque style of 1771. The space of the ship is encircled by cross rib vaults with pear profile. In the northern atrium there is a cross ridge vault and in the base of a rolled vault. Ships connect broken arcades on polygonal pillars. The chapel of St. Michael, originally dedicated to Saint Barbora, opens into the northern sideship. Above the western entrance is a brick choir with semicircular arcades.

On the north side of the sanctuary is a built sacristy that originally served as the chapel of Saint Michael the Archangel and the electoral hall. It has a three-pronged end and a three-field cross vault. Another chapel dedicated to Saint Barbora was built on the north side and consecrated in 1395.

On the exterior are visible slim Gothic windows and above the southern portal there is a rose window. Colour glass comes from Viennese and Budapest workshops from 1886 and 1887. The southern portal has a spatula lining with articulated columns and semi-columns, and two violets carry broken arches above the tympano. The relief depicting the crowning of the Mother of God's Virgin Mary is one of the oldest sculptures in Slovakia. Inside there are also the sculptures of Master Pavol from Levoča.

Neogothic tower was built in 1893. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is an example of a spicy gothic and contains valuable artistic equipment that enables you to familiarize yourself with the architecture of the medieval city.
