Evangelical church in Spišská Nová Ves is a classicistic building from the end of the 18th century on Radničné Square in the Košice region. It has the status of a national cultural monument and was created on the basis of a tolerance patent from 1781.
The need for construction arose in the late 80s of the 18th century due to the lost original wooden prayer hall. Construction of the current building took place from 29 March 1790 to 1796. The project was developed and implemented by the builder František Bartel. The building was consecrated on October 9, 1796.
It is a one-ship building in a classicistic style in the form of a Greek cross. According to the rules of the tolerance patent, it had to be built without a tower. Later there was a project for its completion, but the lack of finance did not result in construction. The building is part of the urban monument zone and is located northwest of the Roman Catholic parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
In the interior there is an organ from the years 1822 to 1823 from Vienna's master Friedrich Deutschmann. The baptistery comes from a previous wooden prayer hall. The church contains historical volumes from the library of the former Evangelical grammar school, which is the oldest preserved library in Spiš.
The building is registered by the Monument Office of the Slovak Republic under number ÚZPF 610 and was entered on the list of cultural monuments on 15 October 1963.
