Welcome to Nizhny Repashy. You are standing with one of the quiet but extremely important witnesses of the country's past - a peasant settlement known as the Court of Farmers. Looking around, you may immediately be confronted with this feeling of peace and synergy with the surrounding nature. Feel the atmosphere that's hanging in the air. It is not a place that overwhelms you with greatness or showyness, but rather with its simplicity and authenticity. Before you lies a space that was sometimes the heart of daily work, a place where man's efforts met with the rhythm of nature.

Although at first glance time may seem to have stopped moving, this court is deeply rooted in the history of the region. When you ask when exactly this settlement arose or who was its first creator, the answer remains hidden in silence. Accurate chronological data, precise years of construction or the names of architects who designed this whole are not clearly preserved in historical records. However, this uncertainty does not mean that the place has no weight. On the contrary, it is this confusion that gives this place a special touch. The court of a peasant does not belong to one particular king or nobleman, but belongs to the earth itself and to the people who have served it. It is part of the broader historical context of Prešov region, where peasant settlements formed the fundamental pillar of social and economic life. These places were centers of survival, places where the community was built and traditions passed from generation to generation.

Let's march closer to your eyes. Notice how the entire settlement is distributed in space. Even if we do not know the exact architectural plan, you can see the logic that guided this place. In farmers' settlements, architecture was not only about beauty, but above all about functionality. Every building, every corner of this courtyard, had a clear purpose. Look at the way the individual buildings are interconnected. Feel the harmony between living rooms and work areas. In such complexes, it was important to have everything in order - a place for the dwelling, a place for storing crops, a place for animals. Now, when you look around the facade and the overall extent of the construction, try to perceive this practicality. There is no unnecessary luxury, respect for the work and needs of a man who has lived in a close relationship with the soil. Feel the texture of the materials you see and how these buildings have been incorporated into the country of Nižné Repašov.

Maybe now you're asking what faces this place made up. Although you will not find the names of the great generals or politicians associated with this court, this place is saturated with stories of completely different people. They are stories of unknown settlers, peasants and their families. These are the people whose sweat and effort have formed the basis of this country. Imagine their daily life - morning rising up at dawn, working in the fields, caring for the household, and a constant struggle to thrive. Their lives weren't written in gold, but they were engraved in this land. Every step you take now in this territory is a reflection of their existence. Although their names have fallen into memory, you see their presence in every detail of this settlement. These are the silent stories about perseverance, family and mutual assistance that shaped the nature of the whole region.

But there is something else - a mystery that can make you think. It's just the unknown. In today's world, where everything is recorded, digitally stored and readily available, this place is a challenge. Unknown origin, unknown creators, unknown fates. This absence of specific facts creates room for your own imagination. What happened here centuries ago? What kind of voices were there during the summer evenings? What secrets does this settlement carry with it? This puzzle is part of her identity. The court of the peasant does not ask you to memorize the dry facts, but to try to understand the spirit of the place that survives even when the names of people are forgotten.

Now we invite you to continue your next discovery. Don't just stay the first impression. Come around, feel quiet and try to capture the atmosphere of this place in memory. Look at the horizon, see the width of this country and think about how much has changed here and how much has remained the same. The court peasant in Nižné Repašov is an invitation to the world, where time is measured in a different way - not by clocks, but by cycles of nature and the durability of human efforts. Thank you for being with us and for paying attention to this silent witness of history. We wish you a pleasant and inspiring passage through the rest of this picturesque location. We'll say goodbye, but let this experience stay in your heart.

Tips for visitors

The best time to visit the peasant settlement in Nižné Repasie is during the spring and summer months, when the surrounding nature of Prešov region offers the most beautiful scenery and favourable weather for outdoor movement. Be sure to take with you comfortable tight shoes suitable for village terrain, plenty of drinking water and, in case of variable weather, waterproof clothing. To photograph historical architecture and traditional courtyard will serve mainly morning hours or late afternoons, when soft light ideally highlights the authentic texture of wood and old walls. Since there are no other specific attractions in the immediate vicinity, we recommend to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the village itself and its quiet location.

Imagine having a time machine. You set it for the year 2000 and suddenly you find yourself in a time that is very close to us, but at the same time it seems so strange. Seasonal recommendations

Spring brings awakening of nature in Spiš, as snow retreats and meadows turn green. Spring light highlights traditional wooden and stone architecture of settlements. During this period you will meet the minimum visitors. Prepare for variable weather and mudd terrain, so strong, waterproof shoes and layered clothing with windshield are essential. It is suitable for the tour in the morning.

Summer is the main season when the settlement surrounds vegetation and long sunny days provide enough time to explore the area. Late afternoon lighting creates shadows in the yard. This is a tourist-exploited period of the year, so you have to count on more visitors, especially during weekends. Pack light clothing, sunglasses, head cover, and a supply of drinking water.

Autumn transforms the scenery of Spiš into a color palette of shades that match the character of the farmyard. The low sun creates soft side lighting and long shadows. Visitors are falling, which is appreciated by the surveyors without disturbing influences. During autumn days the colder wind blows and temperatures fall, so take a warm jacket, a cap and gloves. A good time to visit is around noon.

Winter envelops the village in snow. Short days and low suns provide a limited amount of daylight that reflects the white background. During this period you will encounter isolated passersby, so the settlement acts quietly. The need is winter shoes with non-slip soles, warm thermowash, warm jacket and gloves. Set aside an early afternoon to visit.
