Welcome to the picturesque village Osturňa, in the heart of Zamaguria. You are now facing a traditional peasant settlement that is a silent witness to ancient times and a symbol of the life of our ancestors in this harsh but breathtaking mountain environment. When you look in front of you, you see a structure that seems to have grown right out of the surrounding country. Its architecture is closely linked to the needs of peasant life and reflects the wisdom of generations who knew how to survive according to nature.

Osturňa is known for its unique atmosphere and this settlement is an integral part of it. Although the exact date of creation of this particular court is unknown, its form makes us feel as if time had stopped. When you look at the overall composition of the settlement, note how it naturally fits into the terrain. This is a typical example of folk architecture, where the functionality played prim. The farmyards in this area have been designed in such a way that under one roof or in close proximity they provide facilities not only for the family, but also for livestock and the storage of crops.

Step closer and pay attention to the details of the facade. Note the structure of the materials and the way in which the parts of the building were joined together. Although we do not know the names of the architects who designed this court, it is obvious that it was the masters of their craft. They knew the local conditions, how to handle wood and stone, and how to create a home that would withstand the harsh mountain winters. Each beam and every wall bears the seal of hands that worked them many years ago.

When you look at this settlement, try to imagine the daily life that has taken place here. Imagine early mornings when the court rang the rush of the economy, and evenings when the family met after working all day in the fields. Although the specific historical personalities that lived here remain anonymous, their stories are written in every corner of this court. They were people who were tough, tied to the earth, for whom this court was the whole world. Their lives were filled with hard work, but also with joy from the harvest and the family circle.

It's his secret that interests this place. In times so fast, this settlement acts as an oasis of peace and stability. It is fascinating how a building without a well-known author or accurate dating can act as a whole and convincingly. Maybe it's this unknown history that gives the place its special charm. Each visitor can reflect his own ideas and reflections about how he once lived in these parts. It's a place where you can slow down for a while and let the spirit of the past affect you.

Looking at this settlement in Osturn, we realize the value of the inheritance left to us by the ancestors. It is important to protect these places because they remind us of our roots and the way people once managed to exist in harmony with the surrounding nature. I hope this short stop at the farmhouse inspired you to discover the beauty of our country further. The tournament has many other stories and corners in its sleeve that are worth your attention. I wish you a pleasant sequel to wandering around these magical regions and thank you for stopping by right here. Goodbye.

Tips for visitors

It is advisable to travel to Osturn at the end of spring or in summer when access routes are passable. The best way to reach the village is by car, as public transport is limited. We recommend solid shoes for walks in the village and camera to capture traditional log houses. There is a Goral architecture nearby. For families with children, visiting is an opportunity to get to know the way of life of an ancestors in the original environment.

For children

Imagine moving in time exactly 73 years ago. The year is 1953 and you stand on the outskirts of Osturna, which is crouched in the arms of beautiful mountains. The air smells freshly cut grass and needles. It was during this period that a new chapter began to be written for local farmers, still standing as silent witnesses of the past. It's like entering a scene from a movie where time stopped and where each wooden beam wall tells its own story.
