Betliar mansion with park is the most visited mansion of southeastern Slovakia, located in the village Betliar, 7 km north of Rožňava. This historic object, which has its roots in the early 18th century, is a fascinating example of architectural and cultural evolution. Originally it was built on the foundations of the older Renaissance castle Bebekovci Štefan Andrášim as a bunk, still fortified castle with four corner towers. This object has undergone several reconstructions and extensions, especially in the years 1792 - 1795 and 1880 - 1886, thus becoming a present that reflects the French hunting style.

Betliar Manor is known not only for its architecture but also for its rich collections. Andrasi was filled with precious furniture, works of art, and extensive libraries that focus on scientific literature of the 18th and 19th centuries. Painting works of 19th century realists form a major part of the collections, while exotic objects and hunting trophies give the unique character of the ground floor space.

The Betliar Park is the largest historical park in Slovakia with an area of 80 ha. Its founding dates back to the end of the 18th century, when the Andrass began building it and later expanded it. The park is home not only to lakes, but also to smaller garden buildings such as pavilions, grotes and water meters. There is also a Hermes well from the middle half of the 19th century and a Roman waterfall designed in 1823 by Josef Bergmann, the highest artificial waterfall in Slovakia.

The area of the Betliar manor house was declared a national cultural monument in 1985. This status highlights its value as a precious cultural and historical heritage of several centuries. The park and the manor house are now open to the public, making them an ideal place to discover history and nature.

Today, the Betliar mansion is more than just architectural monuments. It is a place where the history of the Andráši family and the broader history of Slovakia overlap. Its rich collections and extensive park with waterfall and exotic trees offer visitors a unique experience that is different from many other historical towns in Slovakia. Betliar Mansion is probably the biggest reason for visiting not only its architecture, but also rich heritage and natural beauty of the park.

Betliar Manor is thus a place full of historical rather than just visual experiences. Its importance to the culture and history of Slovakia is invaluable, making it an ideal goal for anyone who seeks to understand the past or simply wants to enjoy the beauty of nature and architecture. Visiting this place is a challenge for anyone interested in historical monuments of Slovakia and offers the opportunity to explore one of the largest architectural pearls of south-eastern Slovakia.

You know, betliar. Right now, when you are facing this monumental building, you are located in one of the most important and most visited historical towns in southeastern Slovakia. Look around you and see the atmosphere of this place. In front of your eyes, the Bethliar manor house lies inextricably connected to its vast and beautiful park. There's something magical, something that immediately swallows you up with peace and the feeling that you're in the space where time stopped. Feel this moment, breath and let yourself be carried by what this place offers you. You stand in the heart of history that has formed here for centuries.

However, in order to fully understand the importance of this place, we must go back to the past together. The history of this place is not just the story of the elegant mansion you see today. This whole area has its roots deep in the Renaissance era. Originally there was not this representative manor house, but the Renaissance castle Bebekovci. Imagine this place a few centuries ago when it was much more fortified and served primarily for defence. It was on these older, stronger foundations that Stephen András began to build. It was not a place for relaxation and walks in the garden, but a bunk fortified castle, which had four corner towers. These towers at that time symbolized the power and inadequacy of the sovereign race.

Over time, however, people's needs and way of life changed. Castle fortifications were no longer enough and elegance and comfort became necessary. That is why we moved in time to 1792, when the first major rebuilding and extension of this object began. At that time, the castle gradually began to turn into what we now see as a manor house. This transformation process was fascinating. From a limited, limited military object began to create a place for life and representation.

Instead of just looking at the buildings themselves, try to imagine the change that occurred during the second major rebuilding between 1880 and 1886. At that time the manor house was completely transformed into a French hunting style. This is the moment you should be interested in now that you are looking at architecture in front of you. This style brought to the area some lightness, elegance and connection with nature, which is typical for French residences. It was no longer just a solid building, but a harmonious whole that was supposed to be pleasant and stylish. Now when you look around the facade and the overall appearance of the building, try to perceive this effort to create a luxurious and aesthetically impressive space that reflected the taste of the bricker owners.

Now, however, I would like to invite you to shift your attention not only to the manor house itself, but also to its surroundings. Since you are standing nearby, you will notice how this area is connected to nature. The historical park of the Betliar manor house was founded in the late 18th century. It is a space that was designed to complement the architecture of the manor house and create an ideal environment for relaxation. The park is not just a simple green area, it is a carefully planned whole.

If you go deeper into the park, you can run into one of the biggest attractions of this place. In 1823 a Roman waterfall was designed and built. Imagine the sound of water, the movement and the atmosphere this waterfall brings to the park. It is a fascinating element that gives the entire area a dynamic and at the same time a feeling of peace. It's the details that make Betliar such a special place.

It is important to remember that the importance of this place is not just local. Betliar is now declared a national cultural monument, which was confirmed in 1985. This sign tells us that what you see in front of you is extremely valuable to our entire country and to our identity. It's evidence of how architecture and nature can connect in something timeless.

Maybe sometimes he'll start asking you what all this place is hiding. There are many questions that refer to changing eras and people who lived here. The transition from the fortified castle of Bebekovci to the elegant French style of the manor house is itself a fascinating story about how the human environment changes according to the needs of beauty and comfort. Every corner of this park and every detail of the building bears a print of different centuries.

Now that you've gained a basic overview of what Betliar offers, it's time for further discovery. I'm not waiting for you to just pass by, but get carried away. We invite you to take a slow walk through the park, find those Roman waterfalls and enjoy the peace and quiet that you will find here. Look at the trees, perceive the light and shadow and enjoy this experience in its full beauty.

Thank you for spending time with us and for coming to know this unique piece of our history. We wish you a pleasant and inspiring stay in the area of the Betliar mansion. Enjoy every moment in this beautiful place. Goodbye.
