Jasenov Castle Castle

Jasenov Castle is a national cultural monument in the village of Jasenov in Prešov region. According to the register of ÚZPF, the object comes from 1600. Its architecture is renaissance, although the area contains elements from several periods.

The whole area registers the Monument Office of the Slovak Republic under number 126 and consists of 28 objects. The castle core represents Gothic elements from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries: residential tower, wall and castle courtyard. There are also two castle palaces from the 16th century (first and second half) and bastion from the first half of the 16th century.

The I. system is in Renaissance style. Includes wall ii, courtyard castle ii, gate i, bastion ii and bastion iii. Most of them date back to the first half of the 16th century, except the bastion iii and the corridor from the second half of this century. Prehradie II. consists of wall iii, courtyard castle iii and bastion ii from the second half of the 16th century together with economic building ii.

The front of the III. contains the wall iv, the courtyard castle iv and bastion in the second half of the 16th century. At the latest built parts belong to the front IV. Here are in the Baroque style of the first half of the 17th century basthion i, ii, iii and iv, wall in, gate ii and castle courtyard in. There is also an economic building in the area from the second half of the 16th century.

The monument is located on coordinates 48.89108, 21.91062. It is protected as a national cultural monument.

The castle of Jasenov documents the development of fortification from Gothic to Renaissance to Baroque. Due to the composition of objects, the goal is for visitors interested in historical architecture.
