The church was built in 1478, the main ship was built in 1540. In the 16th and 17th centuries it belonged to the Protestant Church, in 1708 it was returned to the Roman Catholic Church. It has undergone several reconstructions, most extensive in 1912 and 1935. In 1766 they completed the restoration of the facade and wood shingle cover. After selling three Late Gothic altars to Budapest in 1912, the church underwent a major reconstruction. They dismantled the wood chorus and replaced it with reinforced concrete with cast iron columns. Concrete floors were created and the wooden railings of the chorus painted scenes from the Cross Road.

It has two inputs - the main southern portal and the secondary west. The total length with the tower is 24 meters, width in the middle 10.2 meters. The height of the vault is 8.5 metres and the height of the tower is 26 metres. The outer part is supported by three-tier support pillars with roofs.
The interior contains a presbytery 6 metres long and 7.7 metres wide. It is completed by a polygonal cap with a rib vault divided into five parts with a central clamp with relief of the face of Christ the Lord. The Presbytery has a large gothic stained double windows and gothic niche pastophorium. In the center there is a neo-Gothic altar of St. Nicholas from 1912.
The ship and the tower are connected by the western side portal that leads to the subway. The tower is arched by a lunett wall vault, the ship has a cross rib vault and sacristy a simple rolling vault. In the church there are three stone bolts, two in the boat and one in the sanctuary.
The church had a winged oltäre, especially the altar of St. Nicholas from Bari. These late-gothic oltäre were moved to the National Gallery of Budapest in 1896.
