Welcome to the picturesque village of Torysky. Right now you are facing a historic peasant settlement that is a silent witness to the ancient times and everyday life of our ancestors in this region. When you look in front of you, you see a structure that carries the spirit of the past and the traditional way of farming that has been typical for this area of Prešov region for generations. Although the exact date of creation of this settlement remains shrouded by the mystery and the names of its original builders have been lost in the stream of time, the very presence of this court tells us much about the life of the local farmers.
Step closer and take a moment to observe the overall composition of this place. See how the housing architecture naturally integrates into the surrounding terrain. It was this connection with the soil and the country that was crucial for the farmers' courts in Torysky. When inspecting the facade, note the simplicity of the lines and the purpose with which the construction was designed. Each element you have before your eyes had its clear practical meaning in the past. Whether it is the distribution of the parts of the court or the way the parts of the building are connected, everything was subject to the needs of the economy and the family that lived here.
Try to stop for a moment and imagine what it looked like in the times of this court's greatest glory. Although we do not know the specific names of the families who managed here, we can be sure that this court was the center of their world. It was the place where the day began with the sunrise and where work in the fields met with household needs. It was in such settlements that the identity of the local inhabitants, their customs, and their relationship with the land that fed them, formed. It's fascinating to realize that even though we don't have written references about people who used to live here, their message is written in every corner of this court.
The interesting thing about this place is its inconspicuousness, which conceals deep historical significance. In today's hurried world, this court acts as an island of peace. It's kind of a mystery how a building without a well-known architect or accurate dating can make such a strong impression. Maybe it's the unknown history that makes us think about how many similar stories are hidden in every corner of our country. This court is not only a set of walls and spaces, it is a memory trail that reminds us that the life of our ancestors was full of hard work but also of deep respect for traditions.
As you look at the details of this court, try to perceive the atmosphere that this place emits. It's not just about what you see, it's about what you feel when you stand in a place where the history of ordinary people has been written. Torysky has its special charm and this settlement is an integral part of it. We hope that this brief stop at the farmyard inspired you to discover the beauty and secrets of our history further. The village of Torysky offers many other corners that are worth your attention, so we invite you to continue your walk and let yourself be guided by curiosity. Thank you for stopping by right here, and we wish you many more pleasant experiences in getting to know our common cultural heritage.
Tips for visitors
The village of Torysky is an ideal place to visit during the summer months or early autumn, when the surrounding nature of the Levoča mountains is the most beautiful and the roads are safe to pass. We recommend taking with you strong shoes suitable for outdoor movement and, in case of variable weather, layered clothing. For photographers, the courtyard of the farmer's settlement offers the best light conditions during the golden watch, when the low sun highlights the texture of traditional materials and architecture. We recommend families with children to join the visit with a walk around the village, which offers a peaceful atmosphere and an authentic view of the traditional way of life in the region.

Seasonal recommendations
The village of Torysky is surrounded by meadows. During the spring, the terrain around the building after the melted snow is often soaked, so solid waterproof footwear is recommended. It is appropriate to plan for the morning.
In summer, the courtyard is exposed to direct sun, highlighting the structure of the materials used, such as wood and stone. During the high season attendance is higher, therefore early morning arrival is recommended. Due to the high temperatures, it is advisable to choose the lightweight clothing and to provide yourself with plenty of fluids.
Autumn in Torysk brings a change in the coloration of the surrounding landscape. Attendance decreases during this period. For variable weather and cooler evenings in the foothill area, layered clothing is recommended. The best time for a tour is a late morning after the morning mist is melted.
Winter changes the appearance of settlements under a layer of snow. Due to shorter days and early darkening, it is advisable to plan a visit for the afternoon. Warm clothing and footwear with slip soles are essential. Access roads may be more difficult to maintain during this period.
