We welcome you to the Nedežrech-Brezany. You are now facing a place that carries the silent power of the past - before the Court of Farmers. When you look around you, you may not see at first glance magnificent monuments or façades that will immediately impress you, but it is in this simplicity and humility that the real value of this place lies. Feel the atmosphere that works here. It is a space that is not built on the representation of power, but on the work, life and on the constant relationship of man to earth. You stand in the heart of something that shaped our culture and the way our ancestors live their daily lives.

Although the history has not given us accurate chronological data on exactly when this court was created, and we do not know the names of its builders, its existence tells us much more than it might seem at first sight. This type of settlement, the farmyard, was in our geographical areas, including the Trenčín region, the cornerstone of the social arrangement. It was not just buildings but a complex system that allowed the survival of entire families and the community. At the time this court was founded, life was dictated by the rhythm of nature and the cycle of seasons. Every detail of this place had a clear purpose, each building was meant to serve a specific need - whether it was accommodation, crop storage or farm care.

Now that you are moving near these buildings, look at their overall composition. Observe how buildings are stratified in space. Although we do not know the specific architects who designed them, we can see a deep understanding of the practical need and functionality in their layout. The architecture of this place is not about aesthetic experiments, but about intelligent use of available materials and space. See the harmony between human creation and the surrounding landscape. Look at the shapes of buildings and try to imagine how people in the past moved in them, as they stored in them the benefits that were key to the survival of winter. Every angle and each transition between the parts of the court was designed to maximise the efficiency of daily activities.

Perhaps you may find it strange that we do not know the names of prominent personalities about this place. But that is where one of the strongest aspects of this place lies. The court of the farmer is a memorial to anonymous heroes. It's the thousands of hands that worked in the fields around the Neze-Birzanov, the names that were not written in gold in history, but which formed the basis of our civilization. When you look at these structures, view them as witnesses to these unknown lives. Imagine families who experienced both the joys and tragedies that celebrated the crop and that faced difficult winters. Their story is not written in chronicles, but is engraved in the very essence of this place and in every stone or wood you see here.

However, there is also one great mystery that accompanies this court. It's the unknown history we mentioned at the beginning. Why did we lose accurate information about its origin? What happened to the documents that could tell us more about its origin? This void in the records creates a fascinating space for your own imagination. The place where the fact ends begins with a pear of history. This uncertainty forces us to be more alert to the Tatent and to perceive the place not only through direct information, but through intuition and the feeling of what is left here. It is a silence that makes us think about how quickly time is passing and how little remains of us if it is not preserved in the memory of people or in solid buildings.

But I really don't just call you to think about what we don't know. I'm giving you an invitation to explore deeper. Get carried away by the atmosphere of this place. Walk around, feel the silence, and try to capture the sense of connection with the past that has been involved. Each step can lead you to a new perception of this historic settlement. The court is not just a static object, it is a living link to our identity and to where we come from.

Thank you for spending your time right here in the Nedies-Birch. We believe that this short look at life in the past has brought you new ideas and thanks to this place you will look at your country a little differently. Continue your journey and I wish you a pleasant further discovery of the surroundings. We'll say goodbye, but let this sense of historical continuity stay with you for longer.

Tips for visitors

Visit the settlement in May or September. During these months the weather is stable and the gardens are flowering or harvesting.

Wear strong shoes suitable for the terrain. We recommend taking repellent and drinking water.

Take a photo of the main building shortly before the sun is flooded, when light is soft. The best angles are from the south side of the courtyard.

Within 30 minutes you can visit the local chapel or natural path. For families with children there are interactive workshops and a playground at the entrance.

For children

Close your eyes and imagine pressing a secret button on a time machine. Boom! You'll fly right back to the past in 115 years. It's 1911. There is a country around you that you may know today, but it looks completely different. No cars, no cell phones, just silently interrupted by the singing of birds and the distant rhyme of horses. Right here, in the village of Nedožery-Brezany, there was a peasant settlement that hides stories from the time when the world was slower and much simpler.

Seasonal recommendations

Monument: peasant settlement

In the spring, the peasant settlement in Nedžeroch-Brezany will wake up with nature. The surroundings are beginning to green, and flowering vegetation creates a fresh, revived atmosphere. Light is soft, which is ideal for photographing details of historical architecture. We recommend preparing layered clothing because spring weather is often variable in this area.

Summer brings the warmest atmosphere and long days that allow longer observation of the settlement details. Sunlight is intense, so it is advisable to come early in the morning to avoid the greatest heat and possible crowds of tourists.

Autumn visit offers nostalgic atmosphere, complemented by golden colors surrounding and occasional morning fog. Lighting is soft and deep, which gives historical buildings a special character.

In winter, the farming settlement is quiet and peaceful, especially if the landscape is covered with snow. Short days and sharp winter light create a contrast between historical buildings and surrounding landscapes.
