st. Nicholas Church Church with grounds
St. Nicholas church is located in the village Bratislava-Podunajské Biskupice. It is a 3-boat romansgothic parish church with a polygonal shrine and one tower on the west side. Its construction development started in the middle of the 13th century.
The first authentic instrument, which is already in place in 1264, shows the existence of the church before the year 1221, often referred to as the year of its construction. This document was the gift of Pope Urbán IV, who sold the church to the chaplain Stefan Váncsai.
Architecturally, the foundations of the church date back to the 10th to 11th century, when on the site of today's presbytery stood the original church with north orientation. In the second half of the 12th century was built a Romanesque three-ship and added two floors tower. By the second half of the 13th century, a polygonal presbytery was added to the triship. At the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, the sacristy was rebuilt into its present form, and at the beginning of the 14th century, a tower was built and a presbytery encircled.
Under the church there were attractions as a wall of Roman construction from the 3rd century and a grave context. In the interior there is a crypt of Ormosdy family, which adds historical importance to the church.
Today the church is administered by the local parish of the Roman Catholic Church and serves as a place of religious services held in Hungarian and Slovak languages. The last reconstruction work was completed in February 2020 with the modification of the main ship roof.
St. Nicholas church reveals the richness of Slovak architecture and history. Its many-ever development and adaptation to various building styles testify to its adaptability and durability.

Before this church, there were people who wore long dresses and walked down stone streets. This church was composed as a large toy with trios - a 3-ship romansgothic parish church, meaning that it has three main parts.
