Townhouse in the village Banská Štiavnica, located in Banská Bystrica region, is an architectural monument from the 19th century. This object represents neoclassicism and was part of a row building that evolved as a result of the urbanization processes of this period.

In the 19th century, the population grew in larger cities in Slovakia, resulting in the need to build rental houses with higher population density. The architecture of these buildings was influenced by city palaces and often contained passages with metal gates, which gave them a more representative appearance. The townhouse in Banská Štiavnica is an example of this type of construction.

Architecturally, this house differs by its terraced building, which was part of an older unorganized urbanization. The house also contained elements of previous activity, such as cellars and underground tunnels. In the rough terrain configuration was located near St. Trinity Square and was three- to four-storey, while the last floor was also the ground floor in the back alley. Later adjustments and expansions of houses led to the emergence of terraced buildings.

Historically, this house is considered a representative of the type of burgher house of the late Renaissance period and Baroque. Its architectural concept of the facade has been partially altered by modification of the parter, while the material expression interferes with the removal of part of the volume of the side wing.

Today, the burgher's house in Banská Štiavnica is protected by a landmark office under the number ÚZPF 3370. Its current state preserves the overall expression and ground plan-space composition, which are important for understanding urban aspects of this period.

A visit to the townhouse in Banská Štiavnica is an opportunity for anyone interested in historical architecture and urbanization of Slovakia. This monument offers a view of the past and its preservation is part of the cultural heritage of the region.
