Welcome to the heart of Zemplin. You stand by one of those places where time seems a little slower and where every moment gives rise to a quiet reflection. The temple of the Ascension of the Lord is before you. Before we get to a deeper knowledge, just stop for a moment. Feel the atmosphere. See this moment when you stopped moving the world, and before your eyes, this monumental symbol of faith and history arose. The first impression from this place is often not about details, but about the feeling of the presence of something permanent that stands there, despite all the changes brought by the outgoing centuries.

If you look at this temple, you may wonder what secrets it carries. There is something fascinating about the fact that sometimes history has not been able to preserve every name, every date, or every particular event. The origin of this church, the exact decision on its location and when the first bells started in this region of Zemplín, we have no clear answer on record. The unknown names of architects who led the lines and determined the proportions of this building, nor the exact year when the first stone buried in this land became the basis for this sacred building.

This may seem like a lack of information, but in fact it is the greatest power in this place. This temple is not just the result of one man's specific plan; it is the result of the cumulative energy of many generations. It is a witness to time that is constantly changing, but this building here takes as a quiet, fixed point in a constantly moving world. This ignorance makes us more than passive listeners of facts. It forces us to be more attentive observers.

Now that you're right in front of him, pay attention to his architecture. Even if we do not know the exact period during which it originated, you can perceive his face. Look at the facade. Notice how light and shadow play with its surface. Perceive the geometry of the structure, its strength and stability. Look up to the places where the building meets the sky. Consider the linearity, the attempt to link the earthly with the heavenly, which is the essence of the very name of this temple - the Ascension of the Lord.

Note the texture of the materials that make up this temple. See how the walls touch the air and how this object has been incorporated into the land of Zemplin. Every detail, ranging from the shape of holes in the wall to the overall silhouette, speaks of the intention to create a place to arouse awe and peace. Even if we do not know the exact technical parameters, you can perceive the artistic integrity that emanates from this building. It is an architecture that does not call for attention in a noisy way, but which forces it through its presence and balance.

When we try to find specific faces in this place, we encounter another fascinating truth. History has not given us the names of kings, great nobles, or famous believers directly related to this temple. But that doesn't mean this place is without people. In fact, this temple is built on the presence of thousands, perhaps even millions of anonymous persons.

Imagine all the people standing here before you. Those who came here with joy and those who sought comfort in times of pain. Those who prayed for the success of their families and those who stood here quietly looking for answers to questions they couldn't say out loud. It is these unknown personalities, these thousands of anonymous lives that this temple inhabited, that give it a real soul. They're not names in the textbooks of history, but they're human destinies that have been intertwined with this town and this county. This temple is their common home, their silent witness.

And here we come to the greatest mystery you might be interested in at this temple. What is it that we miss? What is it that history couldn't tell us? It's the unknown that makes us curious. It is this void in the records that creates space for your own imagination. If we don't know exactly who was standing here or who was working here, we can think of an endless variety of possibilities. It's a challenge for every visitor to find his own story.

This temple teaches us that there is no need to know everything to perceive anything. There is no need to know the exact century or the name of the builder to feel the weight of this place. Sometimes the greatest truth is hidden in what we do not know. In what remains in the shadows, in what is unclear and in what forces us to stop and just be. This ignorance is not a shortcoming, it is a gift that allows us to survive this moment without overtaking the facts and with greater respect for the very essence of time.

Now I want to invite you to continue your detour. Do not wait for further information that someone will give you as dry data. Instead, try to become part of this place. Go around the temple, see its various angles, see how its appearance changes depending on where you stand and where the sun shines. Notice how the building engages in the surroundings, how it communicates with the land of Zemplin.

Let's just be. Feel this peace. Perhaps it is in this very silence, without unnecessary names and dates, that you will find what you were looking for at this temple. Let's look together at what this temple offers us at this moment - not as a historical object, but as a living, still present moment.

Thank you for spending this moment with us and for choosing to pay attention to this place. We wish you a pleasant rest of your day and hoping that this short stop has brought you at least a bit of peace and a new insight into what is permanent. We'll say goodbye, but keep this feeling with you as you continue your journey.

For children

Imagine being teleported to a time when there were neither smartphones nor Internet nor televisions. It's exactly 116 years ahead of you. The world around you is completely different. Instead of fast cars on the roads, horses knock and people wear long, noble clothes. At that time, around 1910, something big and important began to be built in this part of the country.
