Vite in Betlanovce, where the unique Fajgelovsko-Pobstovský manor house is situated in front of you - a national cultural monument that defies history and mystery. You stand before one of the oldest manor houses in our territory, which has preserved itself as a living witness to the past. Let's go and dive into his stories that have been hidden in his stone walls for centuries.

Before you there is a complex that forms a manor house from the years 1564 to 1568 - this is a time when the Renaissance in our territory was long before known from short stories only. It is right to say that this manor house is one of the most important examples of Renaissance architecture in Slovakia. It is surrounded by the area, which complements two curies from the late Baroque period and early 19th century, as well as the manor park from the second half of the eighteenth century. Note how these different eras and styles naturally come together, as if time had not passed, but only changed.

Let's go see the mansion itself. His facade, although in time he passed several transformations, preserved several distinctive features of Renaissance architecture. For the first time, look at his main facade - see his symmetry, which was typical at this time. Renaissance manor houses were often characterized by clear geometry and harmonious arrangement of windows, portals and details. Here you can see how it turned out in this manor house. Let's go a little closer to the details.

You can see how the stones join together as a whole, as stone details appear on the facades, which served as a decorative element but also as a protection against weather conditions. Renaissance manor houses have often used motifs from ancient art, such as Corinthian or composite ledges, which can appear in some sections. Around the manor house there is a park, which was treated in the second half of the eighteenth century in the spirit of Baroque gardening. Although there are no sculptures or fountains that can be preserved today, note the atmosphere created by the park - as if time stood by waiting for a visit.

We're going back to the manor house and we're going to do his history. Its original owners are unknown, but we know that it was built at the time when important gender lines began to form in Slovakia and the manor houses became the centers of power and culture. In the 16th century, the manor house was owned by the Fajgel family, who dealt with trade and political activities. Their operation was also reflected in the mansion, which became one of their settlements. In later periods, the mansion passed into the hands of the Pobst family, who owned it until the early twentieth century. Their operation was also reflected in the manor house, which was gradually modified in the spirit of Baroque and Classicist architecture.
