Platthy mansion Manor house and park
Platthyovský manor house is a two-storey Renaissance-baroque building from the first half of the 17th century in the town district Diviaky in Turčianske Teplice. Part of the building is a natural-landscape park. Matej Bel mentions the construction in his work. The monument office of the Slovak Republic records the area under the number of the ÚZPF 539. It consists of a manor house and a historical park from the 17th to 18th centuries.
Originally the Renaissance manor house was built around 1630 by František Platthy, the administrator of property in the courtyard of Michal Thurza. Between 1745 and 1747 the object was converted into a Renaissance-Baroque complex with defensive function. In 1754 they built stone walls, stables and granary.
The floor plan of the manor house is U-shaped. On the east side there are two shorter wings closing the courtyard. On the west side there is a building with two square towers. On the entrance side of the inner corner of both wings there are round arkiers on the korkers. Facades have square and rectangular windows with a stone shambrane and a window ledge. On all corners there is plastic compressing. The towers have mansard roofs, the main building has a gable roof with a wall and wooden shingle. In interiors prevail rolling lunet arches. There is a well in the courtyard, and the granite ends the street side. Through the wide semicircular gate leads the vaulted underpass to the courtyard. Its release consists of a small rizalit with three arches. The interior was designed by A. Slatinsky.
The object changed owners, the last was Count Karol Pongrácz. In 1946 the manor house was nationalized. The report stated that the object was in a deolable state. Between 1952 and 1958 the monument was restored in the style of purism, when it was taken over by Matica Slovenská.
The manor house serves as the workplace of the Slovak National Library. In the former barn there is the depositary historical book fondów.
Interiors shall not be open to the public. The exterior of the sights can be viewed from the outside.

Welcome to Platthy Castle in the town district of Divika. You are standing in front of this interesting historical monument and with your earphones on your ears you can begin to perceive the genius loci of this place. You can see in front of you an object that, by its presence, resembles old times and breathes the history of the Turk. Look around you, feel the atmosphere, and let yourself be accompanied by the story that took place centuries ago. Let's move on to the very beginning of this residence and its historical context. Originally the Renaissance manor house was built around 1630 by František Platthy. This nobleman held an important position as an asset manager in the court of Michal Thurza. Construction of the manor house at that time was not only a matter of housing, but also representation of power and influence of the family Platthy in the region. The family was one of the important local landlords and their building activity permanently shaped the form of Diviak. Now pay attention to the architecture itself and the details you have right in front of you. Originally the Renaissance building has undergone a major reconstruction between 1745 and 1747, resulting in today's Renaissance-Baroque complex. Looking at the object, note its construction development and defense elements that resemble the moving times and the need to protect your property from danger. Architecture combines the elegance of later verbs with the massiveness required by the complex's defensive function. Look closer at the facade and think about the craftsmen and builders who put their work here centuries ago. Key stories and historical personalities associated with this place lead us to the founder of Francis Platthy himself. Its work in the services of the Thurz family provided stability and means for the family to realize such a demanding building project. The manor house was not only a silent witness to family events, but the centre of the administration of the estate, where it was decided to run surrounding villages and property. The personalities associated with this seat formed the history of the entire Turiec region. A capture or a tiny mystery makes this place a special point on the map. Platthy's mansion in Diviaky is so significant that it is mentioned in its work by a significant scholar and polyhistor Matej Bel. Recording this object in the works of Matej Bela confirms that the manor house was of the then supra-regional importance and was not any mansion. Imagine Bel coming here or gathering information about the Turks, which later became famous for Hungary throughout Europe. The conclusion of our tour today is an invitation to further research and farewell. We hope you enjoyed walking and listening to the story of the Platthy mansion in the Diviaks. Surroundings of Turčianske Teplice offers many other interesting places and historical monuments that are worth discovering. Thank you for your attention, I wish you a pleasant stay in the region and goodbye to other audio shows.
