Wooden articular church in Leštin, located in the Žilina region, is a national cultural monument and part of UNESCO World Heritage. This 17th-century evangelical church is one of the fifth preserved articular churches in Slovakia, located in the villages of Leštiny, Istebné, Kežmarok, Hronsek and Svätý Kríž. The church serves as a place of re-gulgar Sunday worship and is a history connected with Paul Országh Hviezdoslav.

The church was built between 1688 and 1689 at the orders of Job She missed the captain of the castle guard at Orava Castle. His original building was without a tower and bells, but in the 1970s the church was renovated with a new rustic facade. In 1775 parishioners reconstructed the interior and paintings from the late 17th century were replaced by new ones. Only in 1877 did believers complete the bell tower, which they connected with the church with the covered staircase.

Architecturally represents a typical church model from the late 17th century. It is built on a steep slope and has a oblong ground plan, balanced with a stone base. Spruce wood from surrounding forests was used for construction. The large hipped roof covered with wooden shingle is the dominant part of the church, and there is also a small extension behind the altar. The interior of the church contains walled flower paintings from the 17th century, Baroque altar and pulpit.

Leštinská articular church has been preserved in intact state and authentic natural environment until today. Its monument value is recognized in Slovakia. In 2008, the church together with other Slovak churches was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List under the name Wooden Churches in the Slovak Carpathians.

Today the area of the monument is registered by the Monument Office of the Slovak Republic under number ÚZPF 228 and consists of three objects: bell tower, church and morgue. The Polish articular church is worth a visit for its historical and architectural value as well as for its rich cultural heritage.

This temple represents the durability and spiritual meaning that endures over the centuries. It maintains the connection to the past and offers an understanding of historical events that shaped Slovak culture. Visiting the Leštinská articular church is an opportunity for any curious tourist to know the aspect of Slovak heritage and offers a view of the rich history that took place in these places.

Welcome to the Polish. You've just stopped at a place where time sounds different and where every wooden beam tells the story of old as history itself. You stand before a special monument that carries the silence and grandeur of the centuries passed. When you look in front of you, you will see a wooden articular church floating quietly over its area. It is not just a simple building; it is a living witness to faith, endurance, and the human spirit that could create something beautiful even at a time when the rules were strict and limited. Feel this atmosphere of peace surrounding you and let yourself be carried away by the feeling that you have touched something truly precious.

In order to understand why this church is so special, we need to return to the past in our thoughts, namely the end of the 17th century. Imagine the time when the religious map of our regions was still forming, and when it was these years, between 1688 and 1689, a chapter began to be written, which we now know as an era of articular churches. At the time, freedom to profess faith was not commonplace. However, there were certain laws, so-called articles, that allowed evangelical temples to be built, but with very strict limitations. That's why this church is articular. It was built at a time when architecture had to be both humble and functional in order to meet the then political and religious conditions. The whole process of construction was carried out at the command of Jáb Missed, who at that time held an important role as captain of the castle service. His decision to allow the creation of this building was crucial for this community to have its own place for prayer and meetings.

Now that you are standing right in front of this building, he pays attention to its architecture and the material from which it is made. Feel the texture of wood that resisted the tests of time, wind and rain over more than three centuries. This evangelical temple is the masterpiece of wooden architecture. As you roam around the building and its area, note how this structure fits harmoniously into the surroundings. Because it is built primarily of wood, it acts naturally, almost as if it grew up here along with the surrounding nature. Note the simplicity and purity of the lines typical of this type of sacral construction. There is no exaggeration, because its beauty lies in the accuracy of joints, in the rhythm of wooden partitions and in the overall integrity of the entire building. The area in which you are located is not only a space around the building, but is an integral part of the entire complex that creates a protected and sanctified space for anyone who comes here.

Even though the names of many of the people who built and maintained this church may have been lost in the folders of history, you feel the presence of these people in every building connection. Recall the figure of Jabob She missed the captain of the castle, whose will was needed to make this project possible. Without his intervention and without the courage of the people who believed then, we would not see this unique monument today. Every person who has stood here in the past, every family that has come to seek spiritual comfort, has left an invisible mark in this place.

You may be interested in something even more fascinating, something that this church brings out over other monuments. It is a fact that you are not just in front of an ordinary historical object, but in front of a real world treasure. This wooden articular church in Leštiny is recognised as a national cultural monument and belongs to the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. This means that its value goes beyond our state and belongs to all mankind. It is one of the few preserved monuments of this type. There are only five such articular churches left in all of Slovakia, making it absolutely unique. When you realize how many similar buildings have died over the centuries because of fires, the wood rot process, or political changes, you will understand how lucky we are to have kept this church in this state.

Now I invite you to continue your next observation. Take your time, walk around the grounds, feel the silence, and try to imagine the lives of the seventeenth century people standing here in your place. Look at the details of the wooden structure, perceive the smell of history and consider the importance of this place for our cultural identity. This church is a living bridge between the past and the present.

Thank you for spending time with us and for looking at this unique piece of our history. We believe that your visit to Leštiny has enriched you and that you will take your memories to a place full of humility and beauty. We wish you a pleasant next trip and let this historic area bring you even longer the joys of discovering. Goodbye.
