Welcome to one of the silent witnesses of history in the Nitra region. You are standing in front of the Castle Hrušov, which is majestic and above the village of Hostie. The first sight of this place gives us a sense of humility before time and nature, which slowly returns to where the human hand and strategic planning once ruled. Feel the atmosphere of this place, breathe clear air, and try to imagine what this place looked like many hundreds of years ago when its walls were fulfilling their primary function of protection and surveillance of the surrounding landscape. Although the exact chronology of the creation of this castle is not detailed in the available records and the names of architects who designed it remained in the forgetful state, the very presence of this building in the country speaks for itself. Castle Hrušov does not occur randomly. He gained his location thanks to a strategic overview of the surrounding valley, which was crucial in the Middle Ages for early warning of the arrival of the enemy. In such Zeitgeist, castles were not only defence fortresses but also symbols of power and administrative centres for surrounding areas. Although we do not know exactly who laid the first stone, we know that this object served as an important point in the system of conversion and control of the territory within the Nitra region. As you look around, pay attention to the overall distribution of the monument. Look at how the building naturally connects with the terrain. Note how architecture uses the natural height advantages of terrain to maximise safety. Although time has left its tracks on the walls and many details are no longer visible in the original state, you can still perceive the massiveness of structures. Follow the lines of the remaining parts, and consider how much effort it took to transport the building material to this peak and how precisely the stones had to be stored to last centuries of winds and rains. Now let's stop by to think of the people who lived here. Although specific historical personalities associated with Castle Hrušov are not nominal in our documents, each brick wall bears the story of thousands of nameless people. Imagine the soldiers who kept guard on the cold winter nights, serving to organize the castle's life, or the nobles here who dealt with important issues of country administration. Every step you take now is a step in the footsteps of the generations that were born here, fought and perhaps even died. It is this unknownness of particular names that gives the place a kind of mystic and versatility. It's not the story of one king, it's the story of the whole period that shaped our current identity. Perhaps you are now interested in one fundamental mystery that accompanies many similar objects. Looking at what remains, you may wonder why this castle looks just like this today. We are often fascinated by the question of whether there are no secrets in the depth of the foundations or hidden corridors that are still waiting to be discovered. Why did some parts behave better than others? Was it due to natural fallout, or has the influence of military conflicts hit here? It's this unfamiliarity and the absence of detailed files that makes us detectives of history. Every detail you see now is a piece of puzzle that we need to complete with our own imagination and knowledge of medieval architecture. It takes time and peace to see a silent memory like this. I recommend you now for a moment press the pause button in this audio guide and simply observe the surroundings. Note how light is passed over the wall surface and how the sound of wind changes depending on where you are standing. It is the moment when history ceases to be just a dry text in books and becomes a tangible experience. Hrušov Castle is an example of not having to be every monument full of gold details and known legend to have its value. Its value lies in authenticity, silence and the fact that it allows us to involve our own imagination. It is a place where nature meets the human genius loci, and where we are reminded of the passing of all material. Before I say goodbye to you, I invite you to further explore the area. Go through carefully the surrounding areas, perceive the texture of the surfaces and try to imagine how out of these places spring up the strength and control over the landscape. Let your curiosity guide you and give yourself a moment of meditation on what this castle tells us about our ancestors. Thank you for walking around the Castle of Hrušov together. I hope you have found time to stop and that you are interested in the atmosphere of this historic place in Guests. I wish you a pleasant rest of the day and pleasant travelling through other beautiful places of the Nitra region. Goodbye.

For children
Castle Hrušov was created about 326 years ago. There were no cell phones, Internet, or electricity at the time; horses traveled and the lighting was provided by nails and fire.
The high walls of the castle were guarded by the surroundings of the village of Hostie. There were people here who had to be strong and courageous. The castle served not only as a home but also as a fortress. In the hallways, echo steps spread, and fire broke in the fireplace. Kids were playing games that nobody knows anymore.
