Townhouse in Prešov

The townhouse is located in the center of Prešov.

In the Middle Ages, wooden houses were built only with richer owners. The type of buildings affected the material, the way of heating, the property of the owner and the way of defense. The tower house was typically a multi-storey building on a plot with a high stone wall, while the economic object was situated at the opposite end of the plot.

In the 17th and especially in the 18th century the nobility moved more frequently into the city due to functions in the county or military administration. She bought neighboring houses and rebuilt them to the mansion.

In the 19th century, the population of cities grew. Residential rental houses increased the density of settlement. They Architecturally followed the traditions of city palaces in tectonics, cottages and passages.
