Welcome to Sklabinsky Podzamok, where we will present you today the mystery of the history of Sklabinsky Castle. You are standing in a place that once pulsed life, where the fates of the entire region were decided and where the fates of many generations were spilled. Although you do not see majestic walls, towers or fortified walls in front of you today, which could resemble the typical medieval castle, it is this emptiness and peace of the country that have its own, unrepeatable atmosphere. Look around you at the mild slopes and vast areas that in the past formed the natural defensive line. The castle Sklabinňa is now mainly an extinct monument, its remains have been lost in the ground and vegetation over time, so our visit is more the way to the past through the idea and historical records than through the physical passage of preserved spaces. The history of this town is engulfed with the fate of the village Sklabinský Podzámok and the wider region of Žilina region. Unfortunately, we do not have the exact date of creation of the castle, as well as the names of its builders or specific personalities, which are directly identified with its history. However, this does not mean that the city is meaningless. On the contrary, the existence of the castle in this location shows the strategic importance of the territory at a time when important trade and military routes were conducted in a Tuscan way. The castle served as the seat of the local noble family or as a defense fixed place protecting the surrounding villages and agriculture. At a time when such fortifications were common, this was a key point of control over the region. Although we do not know the specific names of the masters who ruled here, we can imagine what it was like to live in such a place. It was a place of power, but also isolation, where families closed into their walls and watched the world from a safe height. When we think about the architecture that used to stand here, we must rely on the general features of castles of this type and period. Since we do not have detailed descriptions of preserved elements, such as specific types of towers, window blinds or internal layout, we cannot show you the specific details you should look for with your eyes. Instead, imagine what the foundations of such a construction might look like. Castles were probably made of stone, which ensured their resistance to weather and attacks. Mury was powerful to resist the siege machine. The interior would be divided into residential areas, where there was a hall, bedroom and kitchen, and commercial areas such as stables and warehouses. An important part was the fortification that could include the trench and palisade, although today there is no clear trail. However, this ignorance of details opens the way for imagination and reflection on what materials and techniques were then used and what everyday life looked like in such an environment. Stories connected with the castle Sklabina are today more general than specific, because historical records of this place are rare. No famous battles to take place here, no heroes or fallen warriors to become part of the local legend. This does not mean that there is no drama and tension. Each castle witnessed both joy and sadness, weddings and funerals, council meetings and secret meetings. Imagine the air in these areas as danger approached, or as the footsteps on the stone floors echoed, when the master of the castle returned from hunting or from negotiations with the neighbors. Although we do not have specific personalities to introduce to you, we can realize that every generation who lived here has contributed to the creation of this place and its atmosphere. Their tracks have been lost, but their presence is still in the silence and peace of this place. One of the most interesting things in the castle Sklabinňa is precisely its demise and how it changed over time from a solid castle to a simple monument in the country. This process of extinction is fascinating in itself and gives us a glimpse of how quickly history can disappear if we do not care for it. The castle, which once symbolized power and security, has now become a part of nature that slowly absorbs it. This contrast between past glory and today's silence is what makes a visit to this place such a special and rare experience. The pomishany of the castle reminds us how fragile human civilization is and how easily even the most solid buildings can be destroyed by time and negligence. It is a warning, but it is also an invitation to lock up what we leave behind and what our memory will be in a hundred years. Finally, I would like to thank you for taking the time and space to stop at this important place. Although you do not see any formidable walls in front of you, I hope you have felt the atmosphere and strength that once ruled here. The castle of Sklabina is proof that history is not only in books and museums, but also in the country that surrounds us. Every stone, every grass and every tree has a story and it is up to us to learn to read and respect it. I suggest you stop at your next tour and listen for a moment to the silence that exists. Let the thought of the lives that have taken place here and what fates have crossed in these places. You may have an image or a feeling that will stay in your mind for a long time. I wish you to enjoy other parts of your journey and always keep your eyes and ears open to the history that surrounds us. The Castle Sklabina wishes you to return home with new knowledge and feeling that you touched pieces of the past. Let the good wind guide you and let history always remain closer to you than you think. Thank you for your attention and have a good day.

Imagine that you are passing through time to 1630. That's when the construction of the Sklabin Castle began. It's not just a set of stones, it's entry into the world of knights and guardians.
Imagine that at that time you are a helper in the castle kitchen or a young guard with a spear. There are high walls around you. Castle Sklabina served as a stone guard over the country. There were gentlemen who ruled the area, and soldiers who were watching the horizon for danger. It was dark in the castle corridors, and only torches that cast long shadows on the walls provided light.
