Schaubmar mill in Pezinok, Bratislava region is a historic rural settlement with a baroque water mill from 1767. This is the largest brook mill in Europe, which today serves as a gallery of contemporary art of the Slovak National Gallery.

The mill on the Cajloch stream was built by the Palffys of Pezinok Castle. At that time, 15 mills worked in the vast Pezinok area, of which this was the largest. The inscription IN ANNO DOMINI 17 67 AEDIFICATUM, which confirms the year of its construction, appears on the southern shield of the mill building.

The mill area is protected by monuments and consists of seven objects. The main building of the water mill and the technological equipment with water drive come from 1767. Other buildings in the area are made up of brick barn and pigs from the mid 19th century, granite and smokehouse from the early 20th century. The settlement was complemented by orchards and farm buildings such as wheelchairs, stables, sect and apiaries.

After a period of several managers, the mill bought Wilhelm Schaubmar (1829-1898) from Reichardova widow in 1857. The Schaubmar family came to Cajla from Bavaria. The owner was then the son of Gustav (1867-1942), who learned about 1880 as a locksmith in Vienna. The mill inherited the oldest son of Gustav, who also took over the craft skills of the father, while Louis devoted himself to agriculture. The youngest son of Charles left for Germany after World War II. The mill grinded flour until the end of World War II, later the animal feeding mix was scraped.

The building represents the regional form of the Small Carpathian water mills with a wheel to the upper drive. The mill consists of a floor and is divided into three floors including basement and attic space. In the interior there was preserved mill scaffolding, gear in the basement, flour coffin, crouper, discarded millstones, kicks, toll scale and river beds. Part of the exhibition is a blacksmith extermination with fukar and carpentry products. All workshops and machines have been powered through the water wheel by a shaft-transmissional connection, which is preserved to this day.

Since the 1970s, the mill has been administered by the Slovak National Gallery. In the 1990s, Vincent Hakszer repaired the miller's technology and connected it to electric power, which serves to present technical equipment. The mill was opened to the public in 1997. In addition to the millering exposition, there is a Gallery of Institutenego Art, which since 2017 presents original collections of SNG and contemporary art and design.

Currently, comments are held on the exhibitions, lectures, debates and events Our Market. For children there are art, ceramic and technological workshops, summer camps and school programmes based on the methods of the SNG gallery pedagogy. The original mill island in the city district of Cajla is no longer flooded with water, only dry trough remained in the area of the orchard.

Schaubmar's mill is a preserved example of millering technology and rural architecture.
